Today I am Thankful

...for 2 hour delays! That means we have time to make things like pancakes for breakfast instead of cereal. Also, I can sit at my own table with my coffee (and juice today) and enjoy it even more.

The many faces of Paxton

Having a baby this year has brought forth many challenges, but sometimes she makes it easy for us. For example, this is the face she makes when she does not want to take a bite. Clearly it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out....

Babies also love their feet. Now that it's winter, Paxton's feet are covered up most of the time. However, she looooovvves to play with her feet during a diaper change. Mostly she likes the taste of them.

Back to work

As you can see by my poor neglected blog, we had to go back to work. As glorious as snow days are, like all good things, they eventually come to an end. Now that we are in what I consider a "blah" time of year, I'm trying to look for those everyday things that make interesting pictures. With that in mind, here are a few pics from a typical morning at the Kendall home. Lots of inspiration from Nicole, Cass and Pioneer Woman here.

Tools of the trade

Layer, hard light, erase, crop, etc.

These are some of the new words in my vocabulary. I'm still trying to figure out how to use them properly, but using them while editing some photos sure does make me happy! Here's one that I thought turned out pretty well. Here's the before...

And now the after....

There. That's much better! Ok, no more colorizing one part of a black and white pic for awhile.

My new favorite website

I was checking out Nicole's website and noticed a link to "Pioneer Woman". Curiosity prevailed so I had to check it out. I am so glad that I did!! Highly entertaining and educational, for me anyway. So a big THANK YOU to Nicole for posting that link. Of course I will share it here:

After doing some reading in her photography section I figured out how to do this:

Bath time fun

_MG_0904, originally uploaded by cyclechickmary.

Paxton LOVES taking a bath. I hope she always feels that way about bath time. There are more pics of our fun bath time at www.flickr.com

Photoshop

Ok, I downloaded the 30 day trial version of Photoshop Elements. I SOOOO don't know what I'm doing, but here's a little something I was playing around with. I want to learn to make pages and do photo groups, etc.

Waiting....

We've had no water since about 8:30 a.m. We are also home because school was cancelled. Good thing you can't smell us on here.

The best week ever

No pic tonight, but we do have another 2 hour delay. For those of you keeping track, here is how this week has gone so far.
Monday - snow day
Tuesday - 2 hour delay
Wednesday - 2 hour delay
Thursday - 2 hour delay (so far)
Friday - even MORE snow is predicted

Discovered a neat website called "UStream" tonight. It's another way to do live chat. We chatted with Jeremy's friend Scott Simons. Then, just for fun, Jeremy and I chatted with each other.

Paxton was a delight today! She is continuing with the non-stop "dadadeeedadada" babble. Jeremy is so excited about that! It does melt your heart.

Relax

This is what Jeremy made for us as soon as we found out about the delay. What a great husband!

And this is why we have another 2 hour delay for Wednesday.

This is a photo of the Chestnut Ridge home page. I'm really just trying out this flickr website.

Day of rest

It was 7 degrees when we got up this morning, so Jeremy decreed it was too cold to take the baby outside. So we did church at home, which is pretty nice actually. Sometimes I call it "pajama church". Anyway, we go to www.chestnutridgechurch.com and listen to one of the sermons that we may have missed. Last Sunday, while in Indiana, the sermon was about moving forward and reaching for the new in life rather than being stuck in the old. It was REALLY good and very relevant for the start of a new year. Here's a pic of my favorite coffee mug in front of the webpage. If you are stuck at home on a Sunday, or don't particularly enjoy crowds I highly recommend it!

Ok, so I've managed to kick off the year with my first online scrapbook. Yes, I used a pre-made "fill in the blank" style. I like it though and for now it works for me. I may check out some other sites when I have some time and try their books. It's loads of fun!

Happy New Year

First day of the new year was rather unproductive. Jeremy and I were both so tired from the late night at Nemacolin. The band sounded great though and I think a good time was had by all. Joe Hardy even made an appearance!

Here's a toast to the new decade....
